Leading With Value…

Information product marketing is a full time business for many entrepreneurs but every business owner should include this step in their business game plan. Selling mid range and high end information products and services can generate significant profit. It also builds congruency between your free offers and your primary business.

The 3rd step of the home business game plan elevates information product marketing to a whole new level. Mid and high end products:

1.    Can be priced from hundreds to thousands of dollars
2.    Can be either one time purchases, ongoing courses or memberships
3.    Establish you and your brand as experts within your niche

Entrepreneurs discover quickly how hungry they are for success when they reach this stage. Info product creation at this stage demands a unique selling proposition (USP) and hard work.

Your USP

Your mid range and high end product must still address an urgent problem that is clearly felt by your niche. Defining that problem is the first part of your USP; presenting it is the other.

Presenting your product in a way that makes it impossible to refuse requires a user friendly proposition.

Money Back Guarantee

You enter the process to create an info product because you already know that it works. Guaranteeing your product actually brands you together with your offer.

The guarantee also removes prospective customers from even a hint of buyer’s remorse. State your guarantee emphatically.

Perceived Passion

Entrepreneurs graduate at this stage of the game plan from perceived value to perceived passion. Your information products and services reflect your deep felt convictions and beliefs.

Here the transparency of your business ethic offers unmistakable proof that what you offer is worth far more than you’re asking.

Information products typically reduce extensive education to the nuts and bolts of what must be done to achieve a specific desired result.

Not The Final Step

Successful business owners don’t stop learning. They never stop buying books, attending conferences, forming mastermind groups or consuming info products.

This step is necessary for the professional that creates the product and those that buy the product. It isn’t the final step.

Your Sales Page

The sales page should reflect exactly how your product will solve an urgent problem. It should detail the value of the benefits that can be expected. It should feed off of the urgency of the problem with a passionate appeal to both intellect and imagination.

The vision you’ll be selling is one you’ve already seen. Describe it by telling the story of how this revelation has impacted you and others if you’ve managed to gain social proof.

The 2nd step in your home business game plan requires creating your info product for what we call a low cost item. This establishes the entrepreneur as being:

1.    Passionate about the needs within their niche
2.    Committed to delivering valuable resources
3.    Capable in their leadership role (confident sales enough to charge money)

Information product marketing is everywhere and thanks to the internet buy the process from idea to first sale is fast and easy.

Your low cost information products and services should be simple and congruent with any free products you’ve created. They should step up and deliver more by offering a specific solution to an urgent problem.

Step 1: Identify An Urgent Problem Within Your Niche

This could be one of the first issues you had to overcome when starting your business. You may have done everything correctly or you may have faced issues that complicated matters.

All of your experiences are valuable to someone who’s never had them especially if they’re about to go through the same trials. Your perspective is unique because it gives others who will come behind you a glimpse into the future.

Step 2: Formulate The Problem/Solution Syntax

This process actually pulls together most of the info product creation details which is why entrepreneurs should always keep wisdom journals.

Once you learn how valuable problems actually are you’ll begin to look at them as opportunities for profit. It goes against common sense to look for challenges and difficulties but reality pays handsomely to the one who prevails.

Everyone resonates with an unquestionable conclusion. If your solution works it can be backed up with a guarantee or promise.

Step 3: Frame The Solution With Benefits

One of the greatest incentives to create info products is also the incentive to buy them… they save time.

If I have a choice between reading an info product that promises to help me setup an account at xyz.com following a step by step process or going to xyz.com and trying to figure it out myself…

Saving time is only one of thousands of possible benefits that information products offer. This is why an understanding of your niche will prove vital because you’ll know exactly what they consider the ‘BEST’ benefits.

Even listing the benefits you’re looking for yourself can begin to frame an information product or service. Wherever you decide to start, you’re only two steps away from creating your first info product.

Database of Friends

Leading with value breeds valuable leads. The key to building a list is to know who you want to attract and then developing relationships based upon providing valuable content.

These 7 steps outline the absolute essentials of email list building. This is actually part 1 of a 7 part ‘Home Business Game Plan’ that is used by the top 1% of online home business owners.

1. Define Your Niche

When it comes to building lists you want to keep distinct groups under exacting titles. Building a list of people interested in healthy living may contain several smaller lists with more focused niche groups.

2. Craft or Design a Gift

Now that you fully know your niche group you know what they need and want… so give it to them. Everyone is attracted to a free offer.

3. Write About It

Creating articles and Blog posts increases awareness of the unique gift you have. It also produces curiosity because your niche already has an interest.

4. Video About It

One of the greatest email list building techniques is to show your niche exactly what you have to offer and tell them where they can go to sign up.

5. Introduce It in Online Forums

Once considered one of the list building secrets, forums are an opportunity to introduce a gift which meets an exact need. Forums also help you better understand and bond with your niche.

6. Socialize

Social networks allow you to build a list inside their communities. Think about your friends on any social network as an extension of your list and allow them to sign up for your free offer inside that social environment.

7. Advertise

No other single method can build a list for you faster than placing ads that your niche will respond to. Ads that offer free gifts to people who want them are electric.

How About We Break It Down

I love when people ask questions especially when I know the answer. Most of the time the questions aren’t as clear as the apparent frustration around trying to make blogging easy.

However it is just as easy to confuse someone with the answer as it was for them to form the question. Until we stand on common ground relating anything is difficult.

So rather than starting from, “What I really want to do is…” I decided to begin with, “This is this and that is that.”

From Slide Show to Webinar to Ebook

It really is boring for me to read which means when I actually do the webinar I’m really gonna have to spice it up.

Professionals don’t fall asleep in front of the class.

I did it because I’ve never seen the dashboard on WordPress laid out in order and explained.

I included pictures (doesn’t mean it’s any more exciting) so that people can jump from the book to their Blog and really appreciate what they’re doing.

How Do You Make Blogging Exciting?

It was exciting for me after I learned to make blogging easy.

Until you get comfortable with something new you won’t be able to poor your passion and personality into it.

So while the Ebook and the Slide Show seem kind of dry I’m going to feed of the groundswell of enthusiasm from all who attend the live webinar next week.

In the meantime you can follow the links above to look at ‘WordPress Basics’ and tell me what you think.

If you know someone that is just starting out by all means share it with them and tell them to leave comments here.

Good Advice I Receive… Good Advice I Share

I just got off a training call and a well respected source made a great, boiled down, basic as basic can get observation of what a working internet business model looks like.

  • Having control over your lead flow (owning the list you generate from a constant source of traffic)
  • Having a marketing funnel that converts

Until those two elements are functioning you won’t have an online business. All of your efforts and energy should be focused on those two aspects.

Beyond that everything else is a matter of what type of business you’re in or want to create.

The traffic source should yield leads or prospects within the niche that fits your business. The funnel should effortlessly convert leads to clients, customers or business partners.

Simple, sound and profound. I’d love to hear what you think of this and again if you know anyone that can benefit from this information> Read It, Feed It and Tweet It!

Click It Again

“Increase conversions by cutting and pasting my ad copy?”

I know it sounds simple. Let me explain.

When I first heard about this technique I knew it would work because it held to all the rules about congruency. You see those rules were written for the sake of the searcher and searchers hate tangents.

If someone hits one of your ads and clicks they’ve confirmed they like your ad copy. Unless you just had a great picture on your banner ad and they clicked it to see more.

Won’t the same copy lead a greater percentage to click again, only this time after the opt in?

Congruency Matters

One thing I didn’t mention in the video (oh yeah there’s a video) is that if you frame the landing page around the ad copy it’ll be even easier to stay on target.

So split testing and tracking will tell you a lot but if all you know is that the ratio isn’t satisfactory… compare the landing page to the ad copy again.

If you like this concept please tell me and share it with your friends. Read It, Feed It and Tweet It…

Doing It Yourself

When it comes to your internet presence help is essential. Let me explain.

You will always look at something the same way until someone shares a new perspective. This is the essence of mentoring, coaching or consulting.

I rely on eyes over my shoulders. Not only the opinions of my coaches and colleagues but from casual observers as well.

A Child’s Perspective

Based on nothing more than their posture at the computer, my children qualify as casual observers. Gaining the perspective of someone who doesn’t follow ‘Tech Speak’ (or as some call it ‘Geek Speak’) is a serious benchmark for reading comprehension.

Of course the most important perspective isn’t the one that confirms your content or site presentation is easy to follow. The most important perspective is that of your ‘Niche’ and whether or not you resonate with them.

Measuring Up

You can get a copy of the ‘Internet Presence Evaluation’ worksheet we use for private consultation from our business page on FaceBook.

There are a lot of web site evaluation worksheets available online. Most of them could be revised but very few touch on what is most critical to entrepreneurs.

When I thought about making a video to explain concepts like ‘Clarity’ or ‘Convey Intent Quickly’ I decided to create an actual ‘mock’ landing page so that I had something to dissect. Most of what I discuss does apply to your online presence for sites other than landing pages; this was the quickest to construct.

I value the opinions of my readers so as always… Read It, Feed It and Tweet It. Oh, and please leave comments as well if you find it helpful.

When you look at our consulting service this would likely resemble the ‘work in progress’ phase.

The evaluation is designed not only to focus on your web presence but to keep you thinking in terms of your visitor’s perspective.

You Are Unique So Be Unique

When we talk to local business owners they either have an idea about what their internet presence should look like or what they want it to look like but they rarely go deeper than that.

In my new Ebook, ’3 Online Anchors Every Business Needs’ I use the example of the local hardware store quite a bit. This video briefly explains how a few simple ideas can help local business owners break out of the mold even if they’re part of a larger franchise.

Every business is unique but for traditional brick and mortar businesses the owners need to gain the perspective of someone who can’t or hasn’t seen their physical store yet. From that perspective they tend to get a lot more creative with the process of bringing people in for a virtual visit.

Share this post with your local business friends especially if you find they’re not completely thrilled with their online presence.

All In A Days Work

I’ve spent a lot of time writing about the importance of an internet presence so I guess it makes sense that I’m tuned into noticing when things are done correctly. Jing’s website design caught my attention while using their software and an image from their website.

You can learn a lot more by doing than you can by watching. I’ve had issues with my primary computer and without going into details I’ll just say that the last few hours have been poured into downloading and installing.

My greatest concern is being able to work fluidly on Webinars but prior to going there I wanted to verify my audio configuration was working correctly.

After some initial tweaking I wanted to make more than a test video so I:

  • used Jing to capture an image of Jing’s website
  • opened it up in Microsoft Paint
  • selected the image and started recording

Almost immediately my thoughts about making a ‘How To Use Jing To Teach Jing’ went racing out of my mind and were replaced by ‘Look At How Well This Site Is Designed!’

An Internet Marketing Prospective

My Ebook is almost finished but I know my friend who is referenced specifically would love a visual representation of what I describe in detail in the first section about internet presence.

It is so exciting to realize how far reaching this internet marketing experience can be. So many local businesses aren’t sure how to ‘Put Themselves Out There’ in the online community.

This video is just a quick visual description but can be valuable to any small business owner especially if they already recognize the need for a powerful internet presence.

If you know of anyone that can be served by this please share it with them and encourage them to read it, feed it and tweet it!
